When frequent natural disasters start happening, world leaders band together to create a global weather control system called “Dutch Boy”. But something is not right when strange weather occurrences begin. They send the creator of “Dutch Boy” to the satellite space station to figure out what has gone wrong. It’s a race against the clock to find the problem before a massive geostorm destroys the planet.
How was the movie?
Let me start by saying this is NOT my type of movie! If it weren’t for the 3D and 4DX I probably would have skipped it. The movie was pretty much what I expected it to be. The story was OK, the characters where boring and the action was lacking. Geostorm is a typical big budget action movie that just doesn’t deliver. The production of the movie also had rough times with numerous reshoots and released date changes. I think they should of skipped the elaborate plot and focused on a more fun and campy action oriented experience. I was definitely thinking there would have been way more action and natural disasters throughout the movie. The movie is kind of a mess with it’s only redeeming quality being the limited action scenes.
Was Geostorm worth the 4DX price?
Geostorm had great potential for an amazing 4DX experience! A natural disaster weather film combined with 3D should be perfect for 4DX. BUT the movie wasn’t very good, the 3D was minimal with some weird ghosting effect and there was very little action/weather to utilize the 4DX. Snow/ashes were used creatively throughout the movie. Lightning was used frequently and a cool effect. And of course the wind and rain is always fun. Something must be wrong with the smoke cannons which was little disappointing. Only the right one was barely working and I let management know. When the 4DX was used it was fun, but I was expecting much more from this 4DX feature. I would save your money on Geostorm 4DX and would probably skip this movie altogether.
