James Cameron’s mega-blockbuster, Terminator 2: Judgement Day, is back in theaters. But this time the video was remastered in 4K with improved color and it was converted to 3D. They even replaced the stunt actors face with Arnold Arnold Schwarzenegger’s face.
Let me start by saying The movie has aged very well! The picture is beautiful and crisp with great color. I never watched it in theaters when it was originally released so this was a treat for me. It is such a good movie and it brings you back to 1991. Great story, awesome soundtrack, action galore, and visual effects that are still impressive today. This is everything a good action movie should be! It is still an amazing movie and could stand up against any blockbuster if it were released today.
There is only one real change to the movie. During the semi-truck chase when the t-1000 hits the overpass the window smashes out. Then in the next scene the windshield was back in. So they digitally put the windshield back in before the T-1000 kicks it out.
How was the 3D?
Terminator 2 was converted to 3D and it was not shot with 3D in mind. Don’t expect anything like Universal’s Terminator 2 Attraction which was shot (by James Cameron) with 3D cameras and specifically for 3D. It took 1,400 artists and technicians over a year to convert this movie and they did a good job. It is better than most converted 3D movies BUT I was still expecting a little more from “The 3D Master” James Cameron. With that said, it was awesome to be able to see this masterpiece in 3D. Some of the 3D scenes actually looked pretty good and the movie is really bright to help compensate for the dark 3D glasses. The movie looks great and I think the 3D really enhances the movies and the visuals.
Is it worth the price?
This is the best version of “Terminator 2: Judgement Day” you can watch. If you are a fan of this movie then you are going to love watching this enhanced version on the big screen. And if you’ve never seen it, well go check it out! This is one of the greatest action movies ever made 🙂
